What did we do in 2005 ?

December

As December rolled towards Christmas we prepared for the annual Carol Singing event in Leighton High Street on Christmas Eve. We had a mild evening, which brought out a large number of people to join in the singing, (and maybe get a sweet from Santa Claus). Overall we received over £2,000 in donations, which is a record amount and which was split equally between the Salvation Army and our Rotary nominated charities. Many thanks must also go to Giles, who worked hard at making it the success that it was.
Here is are a few pictures from the event.

Prior to this, on the 16th, our wives and ourselves had our Christmas Dinner at the Hunt Hotel which proved to be a very social evening.

November

The main event in November was our annual Brain of Leighton Quiz night. Apart from a last minute hitch, where we found that the venue was double-booked and we had to make an emergency move, the evening went off very well, with the overall winners being, yet again, the St Barnabus A Team. More details and pictures of the quiz can be found here.
Along with our wives, we paid a visit to the local branch of Waitrose on the 21st where, after a short presentation on what Waitrose stood for and where it obtains it's stock, we were treated to a tasting session. Here we could try samples of their cheeses, party packs and, most importantly, some of their wines !

October

In October we hosted the 4 way meeting at the Tilsworth Golf Club and was where all of the local service clubs got together for a social evening. The highlight of the evening was a presentation given by Joanne Bowlt & Tim Nicholson who took a Morris Oxford car from Oxford in England to Oxford in New Zealand. Details can be found here.
Monday October 31st saw us being paid a visit by Mona Norris, who gave us an Alan Bennett soliloquy - very entertaining.
